Shop Ride - First Sunday of every month
Sunday, February 3, 2013
Destination: Big Basin to Alice’s
Departure: 9:00am from CalMoto Mountain View View

We will be riding out on Sunday, February 3rd, (Superbowl Sunday, Go Niners!) leaving the CalMoto shop parking lot at 9:00 am. Please be gassed up and ready to go at that time. We'll have a short safety meeting before the ride, and a sign-out sheet for contact information if needed. As always, we'll have coffee and doughnuts by 8:30 or so. Please arrive a little early and give yourself a chance to relax and socialize before the ride.

This ride features an assortment of some of the best roads in the Santa Cruz Mountains. This will be a relatively short ride so we can all get back to our Superbowl Parties in plenty of time.  Many of these roads are tight and technical with a generous helping of some of the best sweepers on the coast. This is a great ride to practice your skills for bumpy terrain and throttle control.

Our route will be to leave the shop and head toward Stevens Creek Reservoir via Foothill Expressway.  We will continue up past the reservoir to Stevens Canyon and Redwood Gulch roads eventually coming to Hwy 9 where we will climb up and over the mountain to Big Basin State Park.  We will ride through the park to Jameson Creek, Empire Grade and Pine Flat road towards Bonny Doon and the coast.

At Highway 1 we will make a right and head into the town Pescadero taking Pescadero Creek Rd to La Honda/84 and Alice’s Restaurant.  The ride will end at Alice’s and we should arrive there about noontime.

Everybody, please, be sure to stay within the safe limits of your riding ability. This is a social ride, not a race, so always ride within your comfort zone and work on being the smoothest rider on the ride, not the fastest. True riding skill is built on the practice of smoothness, control and a sense of the right line, not on trying to go fast. So, as always, this is a leisurely ride, and please, no racing! I hope you can join us. Have fun and be safe! e-mail me or call (650.966.1183) if you have any questions or concerns.
