Once again spring is just around the corner and I know you are wondering what to do on the first weekend of May. Spring Fling is just the thing. Get yourselves all pumped for CCBR’s premier event of May, 2014.
This year we have a new location for the Fling. We will be riding to the Yosemite South Ranch KOA in Coarsegold, situated on Highway 41 about 7 miles south of Oakhurst in Madera County.
Coarsegold is located at an elevation of 2,218 feet and has everything you want in a rural town. Coarsegold 's history started in 1849 when “large nuggets” of gold were discovered. Although Coarsegold has gone through many transitions we honor the historic Indian culture, annual events, museum, and gold panning to name a few. You will find Coarsegold on Highway 41, between Fresno and wonderful Yosemite Valley.
Madera and Mariposa counties have some of the best riding to and from that we can find, as well as many strange little back roads (don't trust the GPS!). The KOA is a family-friendly destination. There are two golf courses near Oakhurst, and if we get rain, great fishing at nearby rivers and reservoirs. What more could you want?
What’s included? Friday and Saturday night camping with the Coarsegold Miner's Grill Restaurant catering Saturday night's BBQ dinner and desert. Dinner will consist of BBQ tri-tip or chicken, Miner's beans, cole slaw, garlic bread with homemade mixed berry cobbler. Vegetarian option is marinated, BBQ'd Portobello mushroom. Please contact Kim (925 324 7072) if you want the veggie option. (Supply your own beverage). Then on Sunday morning, enjoy a catered continental breakfast. Between meals, CCBR will have the bottomless coffee urn going so everyone can be well caffeinated. Hot showers and a kitchen gazebo? Sure thing. There are BBQ pits and fire rings so bring marshmallows and anything else you want to consume around the fire: use your imagination.
The camping area is set aside for us and is near all the amenities, with oak trees for shade:
There are cabins available close to the motorcycle camping area for those with tentinitus:
