Welcome to the 2014, March 2nd, Sunday Shop Ride!

Destination: Gizdich Ranch

Departure: 9:00am from CalMoto parking lot in Mountain View

Well we have had a great winter of riding so far thanks to California’s current drought but it looks as though we are going to get some weather next week so I went looking for a good ride that we can enjoy rain or shine.

What better than a stop for some of the best pie in Northern California!

This ride is suitable for advanced beginners as well as more experienced riders, mostly on slow twolane roads, except for one section of freeway (Highway 1).

This is a nice, nottoolong shop ride. We will leave from Cal BMW Triumph in Mountain View at 9:00am and the shop will be open by 8:30am. Mike Meissner will lead this ride. We will be going down Almaden Expressway to Uvas/McKean Roads (G8) and ride by the reservoirs down to 152 (Hecker Pass) RIGHT. We will ride over Hecker Pass toward Watsonville, turn sharp LEFT on Carlton Road, (stop sign Thompson Road), go straight on Carlton about a mile, LEFT on Peckham Road to the Gizdich Ranch.

This will be our stop for coffee and the very best seasonal pie in the Bay Area. Be sure to bring a top case or tail bag to bring one home! After our stop at Gizdich, we will continue back on Carlton Rd and then LEFT on Route 152 back to Hwy 1 and up past Santa Cruz to Hwy 9 and over the hill to Rte.. 35/Skyline and home. The ride is essentially a big circle that ends at the intersection of 9 and 35. At this point you can choose to go home to the Peninsula up 35 or down 9 and back into the Valley via Saratoga. This is a very good ride for advanced beginner and intermediate riders, as it is not very long and we are never very far from home. Please, be sure you stay within the safe limits of your riding ability. Ride within your comfort zone and work on being the smoothest rider on the ride, not the fastest. True riding skill is built on the practice of smoothness, control and a sense of line, NOT on trying to go fast.

As always, this is a leisurely, social ride, nothing difficult and please, no racing! I hope you can join us. Have fun and be safe! email me (mike@calmoto.com) or call ( 650.966.1183 ) if you have any questions or concerns.

Best Regards!

Mike Meissner
